Denise Kiernan is one of our favorite people, and often participates as a 'conversationalist' in other author programs. She is the author of The Last Castle, the story of the Biltmore Estate and the Vanderbilts; We Gather Together, the story of the creation of the Thanksgiving holiday; and The Girls of Atomic City, the women of Oak Ridge who helped create the atomic bomb. She and her husband, author Joseph D'Agnese, are authors of Signing Their Lives Away, Signing Their Rights Away, and Stuff Every American Should Know.
Denise's children's books include a picture book on the creation of Thanksgiving, Giving Thanks: How Thanksgiving Became a National Holiday, for ages 4-8, and We Gather Together (Young Readers' Edition) for ages 8-12.
