Malaprop's In the Community

Community and independent bookstores are inseparable; each feeds the other, and they grow stronger together. Malaprop's nurtures readers from birth on up with a carefully curated selection of books to inspire, teach, entertain, and enrich lives. Here are just a few of the ways we give back to our local community:

We are host to numerous book clubs, and offer space for dialogue and reflection at our near-daily in-store events.

Our First Reads program invites middle grade and teen readers to get involved with the bookstore and the publishing world by reading and reviewing books.

Many writers have drafted work in our café over the years, and some of them have come back to read the polished, published versions here.

We partner regularly with local and area nonprofits, using our close relationships with publishers to bring in speakers for fundraisers and connect readers to causes that matter to them.

You will find us at book fairs, school events, and cultural, food and literary festivals.  If you are a school looking to host an author event in school, contact us at info@malaprops.com.

We donate hundreds of books every year to local causes. If you are a local non-profit organization interested in a book donation, please send an email to info@malaprops.com.
