Marla Hardee Milling is a native of Asheville, North Carolina, and a seventh-generation Buncombe County resident. She's been self-employed as a freelance writer since August 2004 and has written more than 800 published articles/essays in a wide variety of magazines and newspapers, as well as three previous nonfiction books: Only in Asheville: An Eclectic HistoryLegends, Secrets and Mysteries of Asheville; and Wicked Asheville.
