CRAFT: Andre Frattino, author of Simon Says: Nazi Hunter Volume 1, in conversation with Denise Kiernan at Little Jumbo

CRAFT: Authors in Conversation  is a series conceived and hosted by New York Times bestselling author Denise Kiernan at Asheville’s premier cocktail lounge Little Jumbo. The series, held the last Sunday of each month, is co-sponsored by Malaprop’s Bookstore/Cafe and Little Jumbo. Doors will open at 2:30 pm and the event begins at 3:00. A small number of reserved seats will be available to those who purchase the featured book from Malaprop’s prior to the event. Additional seating and standing room will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The second installment of CRAFT is slated for Sunday, Feb. 23. Joining Denise will be graphic novelist Andre R. Frattino who will be discussing his work, including his latest "Simon Says: Nazi Hunter", an illustrated novel inspired by the true story of Holocaust survivor, Simon Wiesenthal, an artist who lost his family and took justice into his own hands. They'll also examine the graphic novel as an increasingly popular literary form, and what goes into conceiving and executing this kind of work.

Andre Frattino is a published illustrator, author and storyteller. He graduated from SCAD in 2009 with a BFA in Sequential Art and in 2012 earned his MA in Art Education from the University of Florida. Andre has worked as a freelance illustrator with clients ranging from Firehouse Subs to Puppy Punch Productions to Mascot Books. He currently works with Pineapple Press, who continue to publish his paranormal graphic novel series, The Flagler's Few.

Denise Kiernan is an author, journalist and producer whose latest book, The Last Castle, was an instant New York Times bestseller in both hardcover and paperback, as well as a Wall Street Journal bestseller. Her previous title, The Girls of Atomic City, is a New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and NPR bestseller and has been published in seven languages.
