CDS LEARNS: Discussions on Education and Parenting featuring The Parents We Meant To Be by Richard Weissbourd

Join Kim Broshar, Lower School Principal at Carolina Day School (CDS), Peter Sullivan, CDS Lower School Assistant Principal, and Barb King, CDS Lower School Counselor for a discussion of the book, The Parents We Mean To Be: How Well-Intentioned Adults Undermine Children's Moral and Emotional Development, by Richard Weissbourd.

Weissbourd argues incisively that parents--not peers or television--are the primary shapers of their children's moral lives. Weissbourd's ultimately compassionate message is that the intense, crisis-filled, and profoundly joyous process of raising a child can be a powerful force for parents' moral development. Weissbourd is a child and family psychologist on the faculty of Harvard's School of Education and Kennedy School of Government.
