North Carolina writer Wilton Barnhardt’s new novel, Lookaway, Lookaway, is set in Charlotte and is “Southern gothic at its most decadent and dysfunctional,” according to Publishers Weekly.
Alice Sebold (The Lovely Bones) calls Barnhardt a “ringmaster of fiction” and Mark Childress (Crazy in Alabama) says, “His insights into his characters -- both male and female -- are rich and genuinely hilarious, expressed with a dangerous level of humor and pain.” The author of Emma Who Saved My Life, Show World, and Gospel, Barnhardt teaches at  NC State and co-directs the Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing  program there.
