RECLAIMING CONVERSATION: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age

AUTHORLESS BOOK TALK: RECLAIMING CONVERSATION: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age with host Jeff Kalil, Middle School Principal at Carolina Day School

Whether induced by academics, technology, or some other factor, isolation and loneliness seem to be the root causes of anxiety & depression in students. "Social" media can be a wonderful tool, but there is no way it can meet the true social and emotional needs of human beings. Host Jeff Kalil will lead a discussion of the book, Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age, in which renowned media scholar Sherry Turkle investigates how a flight from conversation undermines our relationships, creativity, and productivity—and why reclaiming face-to-face conversation can help us regain lost ground.

Part of series of book discussions on children, parenting, education, and related topics led by faculty and staff of Carolina Day School.
