Celebrate Poem in your Pocket Day
Pocket-sized poems, from the Poem in Your Pocket anthology, edited by Elaine Bleakney, are hanging throughout Malaprop's. Stop by to choose one, carry it with you and share it with friends or strangers throughout the day!
Join us at 7pm to hear local poets including Landon Goddfrey, Anna Levitsky, and Steven Manuel read from the the anthology. Elaine Bleakney will be here and will invite audience members to read a poem of their choice from the anthology. Elaine is a former coordinator of the Academy of American Poets, a nonprofit organization with a mission to support American poets at all stages of their careers and to foster the appreciation of contemporary poetry.
Tonight we will be announcing the winner of our Poem in Your Pocket Day Poetry contest tonight! The winner will be presented with his or her poem which has been made into a broadside by letterpress artist Bridget Elmer of Flatbed Splendor.
