LITERARY KARAOKE w/special guest reader MAGGIE SMITH with THE WELL SPEAKS OF IT'S OWN POISON

We are excited to have our monthly LITERARY KARAOKE event with poet Maggie Smith this month.  During this event everyone is welcomed to read from a piece of writing that is not their own. This can be poetry, prose, or any piece of literature that you would like to share....the only catch, it cannot be your own!!  Maggie Smith is well known for her poem Good Bones which hit the social-media scene in the summer of 2016 and seemed to so encapsulate the tumultuous year. Below is a bit more about her latest work...

Delving into the depths of fairy tales to transform the daily into encounters with the marvelous but dangerous, Maggie Smith's poems question whether the realms of imagination can possibly be safe. How do we protect our children from the brutality of the world they live in--the world we brought them into--without also keeping them from the dark forest's wonder and beauty? Even as her compressed stories are unfolding on a suburban cul de sac, they are deep in the mythical woods, "where children, despite their commonness, / are a delicacy."
