An in depth look at human rights violation, Taking a Stand also offers Wentworth and Méndez’s ideas for dealing with abuses in the future.
Writers at Home is a monthly reading series from the Great Smokies Writing Program at UNCA hosted by Tommy Hays. This month’s readers will be students from the Masters of Liberal Arts Program at UNCA: Ann Barrett, Maryedith Burrell and Jessica Pepper.
A Year with Hafiz author Daniel Ladinsky joins us for a special reading and book signing.
Poet and translator Coleman Barks says of Ladinsky’s work: “There are universes inside Hafiz, a lineage of masters. Daniel Ladinsky follows the playfulness; the rascal moves well.”
Local poet and photographer Tracey Schmidt will join Ladinsky. She is the author of I Have Fallen in Love with the World, of which Ladinsky says, “It would be a better world if Tracey Schmidt became a house-hold name and her poems reached millions.”
